La Engorda is a valley located 2300 meters above sea level and gets greener due to the water which goes down from the gorgecreating meadows and pastures. Due the wide territory, its natural caves, and the protection from its location it was used by native settlements, still with paleolithictraces. Strange stone shapes culminate with the settlement. All the scene deserves to be seen. Hiking lasts five to six hours, visiting two archeological sites in the route. Lunch and a nice rest on the river´s edge. At the afternoon we restart towards the valley, camping close to the pucará. We strongly recommend planning it during new moon in order to enjoy starry skies.
During the next day we will be able to discover the surroundings, enjoying Andean flora and a beautiful panoramic view which can be seen from certain areas. Visit to the caves, stone house, and other wonderful rock formations. Lunch and break. On our way back we will visit La engorda cascade.
In this journey our mule drivers and their animals transport our luggage, allowing us to hike lighter.
